When Did Montana Become A State?
ATF and states rights?
Montana firearms freedom act (effective oct 2009) The law exempts firearms made and kept in the state of Montana from United States federal firearms regulations. It also has no requirements for registration, background checks or dealer licensing. The ATF sent letters to all FFL dealers and said they will not tolerate it and federal law is above their law. Do you think the ATF will raid gun stores possessing these weapons? I read this law was written to purposely create a battle for overall state rights VS the federal government. What do you think? The law also states that Article II, section 12, of the Montana constitution prohibits government interference with the right of individual Montana citizens to keep and bear arms. If the federal government goes against the Montana constitution will Montana leave the union? what will happen over their?
We might be lucky and it be like some states that recognize "medical" marijuana in violation of Federal Law. Or they might not let ATF agents in the state. Probably it will wind up with everyone wimping out, and no gun manufacturer in Montana will operate outside of Federal law.

Before 1920, did women in suffrage states elect senators or only state senators?
Before the nineteenth amendment was passed, several states allowed women to vote. But did this mean that they could vote only for state senators and governors or could they vote for federal senators and representatives to send to Washington D.C. as well? For example, Jeanette Rankin was elected to Congress in 1916 from a suffrage state--Montana--but were any Montana women able to vote for her? No guesses please. Please cite a source.
Only thing that I could find:
1869: Wyoming Territory gives women the right to vote. This right continues when Wyoming becomes a state in 1890, but does not extend to U.S. Presidential elections.
