How can you tell if a baby bottle is BPA free?
I'm due with my second baby in a few weeks. I'm trying to figure out if it's safe to use the bottles I saved from my first baby (purchased about 3.5 years ago). I have the original packaging from the bottles, but it doesn't say anything about BPA. I've heard that you can tell if a plastic bottle is safe based on the number on the bottom, but I can't find which are the "safe numbers" to use. Thanks for your help!
Most likely, if it's perfectly clear, then it's not BPA free. BPA free plastic is kind of brown and cloudy looking. I'll have to look up what number is safe.
Plastic containing BPA has a 7 on the bottom. Safe plastic has a 5 on it.
Where in Canada can I buy BPA free baby bottles?
I'm looking for plastic BPA free baby bottles. I've only seen glass ones at babiesrus.ca and I am getting conflicting information on what name brands actually are BPA free. I have checked out NUBY bottles but apparently a lot of babies have difficulty actually getting anything out of the nipple. Thanks and please source your info! 10 points to best answer & sourcing.
You're right about the Nuby nipples being difficult to use. My daughter couldn't use them until she was about 9 months old. We used Playtex Nursers with the drop-Ins. I loved them until she was old enough to hold her own bottle (they aren't drip-proof). We switched to the Nuby bottles soon after things got too messy.
I have seen BPA-free bottles at the baby boutique stores. Of course they're expensive, but if it's a big concern for you, it's worth it.

How long can you use a BPA Free water bottle for?
How long can you use a BPA free water bottle for until you have to throw them away? I know that you can use aluminum water bottles, like forever. What about BPA Free plastic water bottles? Thanks.
Around 1-3 years. After that, I would not reccomend you use it anymore.
