What are some similarities between the Rwanda genocide & the darfur genocide?

What are some similarities between the Rwanda genocide & the darfur genocide? & What are some similarities they both share?

The most obvious similarity that i can think of is that both genocide's could have had far lower death rates if countries in the West, especially the United States and the United Kingdom had got off their asses and done something to stop it instead of watching it on TV.

It's rare things like this which make me ashamed to be a part of the greedy Western World

Need a song about Genocide (Preferably Specific to Rwanda)?

Hi, I have to do a song analysis for my World Issues class on the lyrics to a song related to my topic which is the Rwandan Genocide. It doesn't have to be exclusive to Rwandan Genocide (as that would be hard to find) but it does have to focus on genocide in general. I then have to print off the lyrics and analyze it, does anyone know of any song that deals with genocide at all? Thanks for the help!

wycliffe jean did a song about this for the film hotel rwanda - which is your topic anyway.

Did the French support the Hutus extremist and allowed the genocide of Tutsi during the Rwanda genocide?

I heard that during Operation Tortuise, French support the Huts extremist and allowed the genocide of Tutsi during the Rwanda genocide while under French controlled area. Is that really true?

Well, The French definitely made mistakes during the genocide. Sarkozy admitted that when visiting Rwanda. He gave some speech about the French government being blind and said this blindness caused the French government to make the mistakes they made. Still, he didn't go into any detail, nor did he offer an apology.

What we know for a fact is that French soldiers did nothing. They let the mass murdering go on for months. It was the Tutsi rebels of Rwandan Patriotic Front who put an end to the genocide. France just sat back, but in a way, so did every other country. Clinton was informed of what was happening, but he decided not to act. There were about 1,100 French troops in Rwanda, and yet the killings continued until the Tutsi rebels ended it. Clearly, the French did nothing.

There are even claims that the French troops committed "widespread rape" in Rwanda during 1994.

French soldiers actually trained the Hutu militia group, the Interahamwe. French soldiers even provided Hutu extremists with weapons. China also had some involvement in funding the genocide. I don't think they knew what they were getting themselves into. The road to hell is paved with good intentions, you know.

Inquiries have been carried out by Rwanda and France and it does seem that France are responsible for the crimes they've been accused of committing. France need to properly own up for what they did.

A French politician said, "France asks to be pardoned by the people of Rwanda, but not by their government". Sarkozy needs to apologise now, but I don't see that happening.

The problem is that people will always believe France over Rwanda, and take France's side over Rwanda,.

How do I start an introduction to an essay comparing the movie Hotel Rwanda and the book Night by Elie Wiesel?

Hotel Rwanda is about the genocide between the Hutu and Tutsi tribes in Rwanda while Night is about what Elie went through during the holocaust. I can't seem to find the right words to compare/contrast the two events.

You can start with something like:
The movie Hotel Rwanda and the book Night both deal with the genocide of a certain people. Hotel Rwanda is about the fighting and genocide between the Hutu and Tutsi tribes in Rwanda because of (add reason here). Night is the personal account of what Elie Wiesel, a Jew, went through during the horrific holocaust.
