Can Your Stomach Explode From Overeating?

How many pounds of food/fluids you have to eat for your stomach to explode?

I heard some people died on food contest from overeating large amount of food at once. I want to know. How much do you have to eat for that to happen?

Well, it is possible for your stomach to rupture but honestly, I think your body would let you know you need to stop eating way before that point. I'm guessing in the cases you heard about, the people died from other stresses put on their body - namely on their heart when they inevitably started puking.

The Mythbusters TV show did the myth about pop-rocks candy and soda pop. They used an actual pig's stomach because it's about the same size as a human's. They were unable to get the stomach to actually burst - even after pouring a pound of candy and 4, 2 liter bottles of soda into their test setup. The stomach expanded quite a bit but didn't burst. In the end, the clamp they had attached to the stomach popped off, and made a mess on the floor. Had this been a real human he would have puked and felt horrible but would otherwise survive.

Will your stomach explode after eating a piece of toast after a 6 day fast?

my friend is on a 6 day fast and she just had a piece of toast and now her stomach hurts.... will her stomach explode? ): please be serious, shes in a lot of pain and Im really scared for her... i was thinking that it might help if she drank some hot tea.. but doesn't water make bread expand?

No, it will not make her stomach explode, that is pretty much impossible. Since her stomach isn't used to processing food it will take a while for it to get back to normal. Toast is probably a bad choice to start with but now the damage is done and she should feel fine within a couple of hours at the most.

Drinking hot tea doesn't sound like a bad idea at all, if all she had was one piece of toast the expansion would be minimal.

What can cause liver pain after overeating?

My mother, who has a fatty liver, told me that she occasionally gets liver pain/pain in the liver area of her body after she overeats. What can cause this? Does overeating cause the liver to swell at all? Is it because she has a fatty liver? Is it perhaps not even her liver, but perhaps another organ pushing against her liver to cause the sensation of pain, like her stomach?

It could be related to a gall bladder problem.
